I can't make it work. I have been doing this for a year and have had pitful success.

IM marketing is so hard to make a buck. The hours spent just do not pay off - I would have made about $20 absolute MAX in 12 months. How can I support myself on this sort of money? Impossible !!!

Indeed. Life is 'try until' or get out of the kitchen.
There is very little middle ground.
Being between the stools is nothing but uncomfortable. Out of interest what are you skilled in & how did you earn your money prior to your 'IM'(no such thing btw, what there is, is business and marketing) frustration?

Some people have LOST money in the first year instead of making even a single cent.

You can't support yourself on that obviously. You'd have to have a regular steady pay check job and do the IM thing part time on your time off. Then build it up over time.

There is a lot of learning involved. When I've lost money I've chalked it up to education and experience.

I could have given up a long time ago but I'm still learning and not giving up cause this is something I really want to do.

You just have to decide how important it is to you. If it's not that important, then it's much easier just to stick with a regular job and not bother with IM.

Sorry to hear that.

I wonder if your user name gives an insight into what you were expecting. If one thing is obvious it is that becoming successful takes a lot of work. And if the results don't come you have to draw the line somewhere.

Yep this: I'm still learning and not giving up cause this is something I really want to do. is one of the critical factors, not just in 'IM' but in any road you chose to undertake in life.

Life is 'try until' or get out of the kitchen. If you stop you go nowhere & life leaves you behind. If you turn around you go backwards.

If you thought 'IM' (which doesn't even exist) = Easy Money for life, then I would go back to who you think is responsible for such ideas. They perhaps owe you an explanation or you owe it to yourself to be more judiscious.

Now if sticking with copywriting/marketing/business in general until a level of mastery or realisation arrives in which you comprehend their successful application and can even come up with some cunning applications of your own, and you can stand things blowing up in your face once or twice as you try your new-found skills...
Then yes is the most profitable option open to those who are not set to inherit their wealth.

I'm not judging you dude, you're at a low point, an inflexion point. Remember thought stuff will change.

Good Point - I probably was. Although - after a years worth of work - and significant hours spent - I thought it would have produced better returns. Congratulations if you have made it - I take my hat off to you!

I asked about your skill base as you entered this new activity because if it was not something which lent itself immediately then it can take up to 5 years to really master any business to the uninitiated.

Infact that is the rule of thumb I have heard many businessmen give. Get your head down seriously for 5 years and if you keep your head screwed on and ego in check you should be set for life. Not multi-millions but you should have enough assets that you do not need to work to maintain a comfortable level of life. This means doing what it takes to move to the most certain opportunities, not picking just anything and expecting it to work.
The world doesn't owe anyone anything.

Though for a lot of people a lot of years have to go by before you will even believe this is possible, so badly conditioned are we all by marketing (ironic yes?) and schooling and social-pressures that are like an invisible cell that keep us from even being able to step up to the starting blocks never mind begin to undertake that five year stint.

5 years spent trying to work it out is a huge commitment -
